Joyce participated on a panel of the ASTD Instructional
Designer's Special Interest Group Wednesday, September 18 on the topic of
"How to Work Effectively with Subject Matter Experts."

Joyce will be participating in the Prejudice Awareness Summit as a volunteer
facilitator on October 30 - 31. The Summit takes place on The University of
Texas campus and is for 8th graders in the Austin area.

Joyce has volunteered to do a workshop on The Magic of Instructional Design for
ASTD trainers who have never had formal training in designing courses. The
program is part of the Austin ASTD Chapter's annual Members Helping Members
event scheduled for November 7, 2002 at the Riverplace Country Club. For

Award
Joyce was presented an award from the Austin
Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development for her volunteer
activities in 2002. Joyce facilitated a monthly Special Interest Group for Job
Seekers and was webmaster of the chapter's job line. "Being involved in
professional organizations keeps me aware of new practices in my field," Joyce
said. "Helping the group is a small way to pay it back for the wealth of
information and people it gives me."
